While waiting in the A31 - 60 boarding group for this morning's flight, the passenger behind me and I connected quizzical glances. After the A1-15 passengers boarded, passenger A16 stayed motionless rather than moving himself and passengers A17-30 forward. We'd never seen a boarding group remain motionless until specifically called by the gate attendant.
This was a vivid reminder that images are enormously powerful in creating common understanding. Statistics show that only 7% of information is conveyed by the words we speak.
