Seizing Moments Throughout the Year

Happy 2015!  It's exciting to make plans to ensure that the new year is filled with joy, love and laughter.  Planning and executing against big goals is important.  Equally important is seizing little moments of success throughout the year.  And since so much of life is filled with maintenance tasks, there are abundant opportunities to acknowledge a completed task, that will almost immediately need to be tackled again.  Examples include those magic moments when:
  • the laundry baskets are empty
  • there are no dishes in the dishwasher
  • every item on the shopping list has been acquired
  • all surfaces are dust-free
  • the trash and recycling bins have just been emptied
  • correspondence is up-to-date
Acknowledging completion of a task is satisfying.  With the next change of clothes, meal consumed or incoming message, the cycle for that activity begins again.  Magic moments are fleeting but we have continuing chances to enjoy each small success.

Break for Spring

A lot of southern U.S. schools have spring break this week.  Cheers for them! As of yesterday, we are 20% through the calendar year.  Seems like a good time for everyone who can to take at least a day to celebrate the ending of winter and the beginning of spring.  And this is another chance for a fresh start for those who haven't honored new year's resolutions as faithfully as anticipated.  Plus, it's a good time to clear our mental cobwebs as we tackle the physical ones.

I'm breaking for spring.  Back to blogging on Monday.

Accomplishments

Each new year brings a focus on the possibilities for the coming 52 weeks.  We owe it to ourselves to also celebrate all that we've accomplished in the previous 365 days.

Happy New Year!

The new year holds enormous potential for success in every facet of our lives.  We begin the year with great intentions.  Only by intently focusing on the areas most important to us and taking concrete, manageable steps to sustain our commitment will we succeed.  An unrealistic list of expectations is destined to derail our efforts.  Our best chances for success result by:
  • Tackling a reasonable number of priorities
  •  Breaking big goals into bite-size chunks
  • Celebrating mini-successes as we achieve a milestone or enhance a skill
Happy New Year!

School has started, sports have kicked off and the curtains have risen on the arts seasons.  With so many beginnings, we all have the potential to restart our year.

Happy Fall New Year!

2010

A new year, a new decade and 365 days to live, love, learn, laugh and linger with those we treasure.  It's a time to let go of things that are holding us back and embrace things that will help us soar.  I'm not big on resolutions, but do like to think aspirationally.   I aspire to be my best self in 2010, not only for me, but for those I hold dear.

May 2010 reveal countless special moments, memories and milestones!
